Truck Driver Dies; Three Injured In Road Accident In Khammam

Nalgonda: The driver of a DCM truck died on the spot and three persons were injured in an accident at Kodad crossroad at Yedulapuram in Khammam district in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased was Durgam Tej Pawan Kumar, 24, a native of Seethampeta of Kovvuru mandal in West Godavari district. Three persons including a tourist bus driver and two fishermen received minor injuries.

The road accident took place when the DCM truck, going to West Godavari from Namavaram in Suryapet district carrying fish hunting nets and indigenous boats-fish-hunting material collided with a tourist bus, which was going to Hyderabad from Odisha at Yedulapuram. The driver cabins of the DCM truck and tourist bus were crushed in the collision.

The driver of the tourist bus and two fishermen, who were travelling in the DCM truck, escaped with minor injuries. The injured have been shifted to the government general hospital in Khammam for treatment. Their condition was stable.

Upon the information, Khammam rural police rushed to the spot and made arrangements for the passengers to travel to their destinations. Khammam rural SI Venkateshwarlu said suspected drowsy driving was the reason for the mishap.
