Masters of the Universe has finally arrived on the OTT platform Prime Video on July 22, 2026, after having a dicey run in theatres post its release on June 5, 2026. Featuring Nicholas Galitzine as ‘He-Man’, it is a new remake of the cult classic film of the same name, released in 1987. However, now with the OTT release, will the film finally find its fanbase? As we wait to see what the viewers have to say, let’s take a quick look at the post-credits surprise that had everyone excited.

Masters of the Universe post-credits scene explained

Masters of the Universe has been making headlines with its OTT release on July 22, 2026. Amid that, fans have been intrigued by the post-credits scene of the movie. In the scene, ‘Duncan’/’Man-at-Arms’ and ‘Adam’s’ mom, ‘Queen Marlena,’ are seen looking over a restored Eternos, following ‘He-Man’s’ epic defeat of ‘Skeletor’, who had taken control of the once colorful and lively city and turned it to dark rubble.

The Queen tells ‘Duncan’ that her hope has run out for reuniting her children. However, she was seen trying to keep her spirits up. He replies that “perhaps one day she’ll come back to us too.” The scene cuts to a woman, who we only see from behind and in profile, with long blonde hair, wearing a red cape, and holding her own powerful sword. For the unversed, in the history of Masters of the Universe comics and animated series, ‘Adora’ was kidnapped by ‘Hordak’ when she was a baby.

‘Adora’ is raised on a different planet called Etheria, as part of his Evil Horde. However, when she learns the truth, she vows to fight back against them. Masters of the Universe director Travis Knight says he and his longtime collaborator, writer Chris Butler, had hoped to somehow include ‘She-Ra’ in the movie, but they weren’t sure it would actually happen.

He shared how Mattel created the character, but it was a little like Marvel in the 1990s. He added that it was given how some of that “stuff is carved out all over the place, so it was a complicated rights issue”. He told Entertainment Weekly:

“And so we could use her, [then] we couldn’t use her. She was in the movie, she was out of the movie. We always held tight to like, hopefully we could have her in there, and we wrote the scene in such a way that it was modular, that we could use it if we got the chance and if we couldn’t.”

However, once they got the green light to include her, they were faced with another problem. By the time the official approval came, they were really late in the production and had no money left. Travis revealed:

“My production designer, Guy Dyas —who’s a brilliant dude, by the way — he was putting s— together himself. He was just grabbing stuff from everywhere, like parts of vacuum cleaners, just to make a set. And then we had to fit it into a day that we had a lot of other things going on. We only had a couple hours in the morning to shoot the scene.”

Masters of the Universe cast fee

According to Puck News, Jared Leto was paid more than USD 5 million to play ‘Skeletor’. The report stated the fee included the actor’s cost for acting and promotional duties. The production reportedly cost about USD 175 million and stars Nicholas Galitzine as ‘He-Man’, with Leto under heavy CGI and prosthetics. The cast also includes Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, and Morena Baccarin. However, their salaries have not yet been disclosed.
