April Blair’s Ransom Canyon has managed to find a separate fan base despite getting mixed reviews from critics. The premise is still unique, where three ranching family dynasties enter a competition to take control of the land while their lives are in danger from outside forces aiming to destroy everything. The wait for the second season was not so long, as it has arrived in less than a year.
Compared to the format of other shows, Netflix has preferred to release all eight episodes on one day so that viewers don’t have to wait longer. Keep reading to know what happens in the end!
‘Ellie,’ ‘Yancy,’ and a family torn apart

Season 2 ends with ‘Ellie’ and ‘Yancy’ at their lowest point. The finale opens with ‘Ellie’ in the hospital after ‘Sidney,’ ‘Yancy’s’ legal wife, pushed her off a porch. The fall sends ‘Ellie’ into early labor, and she gives birth to baby ‘Isabella’ sooner than expected. Both mother and baby are okay, but ‘Ellie’ is shaken and convinced ‘Sidney’ will come back. ‘Yancy’ promises to protect them.
When ‘Yancy’ tries to tell ‘Ellie’ some good news, it backfires. His scheme with ‘Freddie’ to fake oil on Double K land fell apart, but ‘Freddie’ now says a new survey suggests there might actually be oil on Fuller ranch. That could mean millions for them. ‘Yancy’ brings this to ‘Ellie’ at home, where ‘Kai’ is on watch. ‘Ellie’ has had enough.
Between ‘Freddie’s’ involvement, the oil grift, and her fear for ‘Isabella’s’ safety, she tells ‘Yancy’ she needs to keep their daughter away from the darkness that follows him and asks him to leave. It effectively ends their relationship. ‘Yancy’ storms out and gets into a fight with ‘Kai’ before driving away angry in the snow.
Meanwhile, ‘Kit’ makes a big exit. ‘Sheriff Dan’ offers him a ranch job in Wyoming to get him away from ‘Lucas’ and ‘Lauren.’ ‘Kit’ decides to take it, telling ‘Lucas’ it’s the only way to fix things between them. At the bus stop, ‘Lauren’ begs him not to go, and the two kiss, but the scene cuts before we see if he boards. ‘Lucas’ and ‘Lauren’ also call a truce after ‘Lucas’ admits he slept with ‘Ashley.’
‘Quinn’, ‘Staten’ and the future of Double K

‘Quinn’s’ storyline closes on a hopeful note. Her music festival at Gracie’s is a huge success, bringing in more profit than expected. Investor ‘Mary Lou’ is already planning next year and offers ‘Lauren’ an album cover gig. The problem is space – Ransom Canyon can’t host more visitors. ‘Quinn’ decides to reinvest.
She buys the abandoned Lone Star restaurant to turn it into a music venue and hotel, pitching it to ‘Mary Lou’ as a local Ryman in Nashville. She also sells her own farm to give her mom ‘Claire’ money for a new house so ‘Claire’ can start over. ‘Claire’ plays matchmaker one last time before leaving town. She goes to Staten and urges him to fight for ‘Quinn.’
Staten sends ‘Quinn’ a letter and a box from Double K, asking her to meet at the cabin. In a flashback montage of their history, ‘Quinn’ shows up. ‘Staten’ has a fire going and the two kiss. The next morning, he says he’s dreamed of her being there, and ‘Quinn’ tells him he’s “her person.” The finale also sets up the Double K board meeting.
‘Senator Kirkland’ agrees to back ‘Staten’ as head of the ranch and give up his own position. ‘Lucas’ says he’ll support Staten too. Before going in, ‘Staten’ gives ‘Quinn’ a key to Double K and asks her to move in now that she’s sold her farm. They eventually kiss each other.
Season 2 ends with ‘Quinn’ and ‘Staten’ finally together, ‘Kit’ possibly leaving for Wyoming, and ‘Ellie’ and ‘Yancy’ split apart as the oil storyline looms for Season 3.
