During an interview with Brian Freeman, the 44-year-old singer shared that she got to know about her health issue earlier this year and is very grateful for her health as she undergoes treatment. Nivea didn’t reveal the type of cancer she has; however, she reflected a positive tone while speaking about her diagnosis.
It seems that blood cancer didn’t slow Nivea down, as she revealed that she has been making music and even attending a school for audio engineering, something that she always wanted to do. Nivea rose to fame in the 2000s, with her hits like Don’t Mess with My Man, and Laundromat. While her professional career was on the rise and grabbing attention, Nivea’s personal life also became a topic of discussion. Nivea is a mom to four kids. Nivea was married to The Dream from 2004 to 2008. In 2005, she welcomed her first child, a daughter with him, whom she named Navy Talia. Following this, Nivea welcomed twins, London and Christian, the following year. Nivea got pregnant with Lil Wayne’s child back in 2009, and welcomed her son, Neal, with him.

Speaking to Kandi Burress’ YouTube show On That Note, Nivea revealed that after her 2002 hit, Don’t Mess With My Man, Lil Wayne reached out to her, asking for a collaboration, while intending to hit on her.
According to Nivea, when they met, Lil Wayne revealed his ulterior motives. Lil Wayne apparently had one goal for his and Nivea’s relationship, and he, according to the singer, asked her to leave the music industry and move in with him in NOLA. It was during the time when Nivea was soaring high in her career. The singer recalled Lil Wayne saying:
“He said, ‘Come be with me. I got you.’”
Nivea even accepted the offer and sent her label a letter, saying that she would step away from her contract. However, Nivea and Lil Wayne’s relationship eventually ended, and he ended up marrying Toya Johnson. On the other hand, Nivea got married to The Dream. A few years later, the ex-couple again got back together and rekindled their romance after splitting from their respective partners.
During this time, Nivea got pregnant with Lil Wayne’s child, and interestingly, model Lauren London was also pregnant with Wayne’s child back then. While this seems to be a really hard phase to be in, there was no bad blood between Lauren and Nivea, and rather, they helped each other during their pregnancies.
Nivea seemingly had no bad blood with Wayne’s ex-wife, Toya as well, as time and again, she bagged praise from her on her social media. Speaking about her pregnancy alongside Lauren London, Nivea said:
“She really helped me through my pregnancy. We really leaned on each other, and we both had a history with Wayne in our younger years, so it was connecting in many different ways.”
