Ibiza Final Boss Jack Kay will be at Anthony Joshua’s upcoming fight in Saudi Arabia and has shown a sneak peek into their bond as the internet sensation gets into boxing
When Jack Kay headed out to Ibiza last year little did he know just how much his life was about to change. And now, the meme star is mixing it with some of the biggest names in music – and sport.
He recently uploaded a video to social media of himself having a private video chat with none other than Anthony Joshua ahead of the heavyweight’s bout this weekend’s against Kristian Prenga. The Ibiza Final Boss was seen being mentored by champion AJ, who was giving him advice about his hopes in the boxing world.
Kay appeared to be on holiday during the call as AJ was seen on his phone, with the pair sharing a laugh and AJ saying: “You’ve got some skills.” Kay said he is “buzzing to go” ahead of his latest boxing contract after his debut win over Jordan McCann on a Misfits show.
The Geordie is heard telling AJ: “I need to come and train with you boys,” as the former heavyweight champion laughs and jokes it would be far too much for him.
“You’d die bro,” AJ said. ” Seriously, it’s so hard.” And Kay agreed, saying boxing “isn’t for the faint hearted”.
The call went on, as the pair appeared to talk like pals. And the post was liked by big names in the DJ world such as fellow Geordie Patrick Topping, as well as Love Island’s Adam Collard.
Kay captioned his upload: “Good to get some education of the main man @anthonyjoshua. He’s going to help me takeover @misfitsboxing let’s go.”
Kay later told DAZN Boxing that Joshua invited him to his upcoming fight in Saudi Arabia and took him up on his offer. “Yeah, I’ll be over there,” he said with a smile.
Opening up on how the friendship started, he confessed it was “through a friend through a friend sort to speak”. He added in a message to the former champ: “AJ, you’re going to smash him. You’re the man. Bring it home.”
Kay became an internet sensation last summer after a video of him dancing in Ibiza went viral. He became known as the ‘Ibiza Final Boss’ after videos of him dancing the night away whilst holidaying in the party hotspot. His lego style hair do, massive sunglasses and distinct moves on the dance floor that captured serious attention.
While many thought he would just be an overnight success and fizzle out, it appears he is here to stay and ready to make a name for himself in Misfits boxing. After receiving a reported £50,000 for his first bout, it’s said he is now in a five-fight deal with the promoter, with his pay packet set to dramatically increase.
In a recent Channel 4 documentary, Kay, who now drives a £55,000 Range Rover SVR, shared how he was keen to bring in as much money as he could for the sake of his daughter. He explained: “I’m trying to keep myself on a level head with it because I’ve got a little daughter back home, I had nothing growing up, so to give her the life when she’s older, she can have anything she wants, is just unbelievable.”
He has enjoyed a year of mixing it with the stars and his latest call shows just how his life has changed.
