During a conversation with fellow contestant Sufi Motiwala, Apoorva revealed that she had experienced suicidal thoughts during that period. She credited Sufi for supporting her after the IGL controversy. She added that it would have been difficult for her to handle the backlash if Sufi had not been her support system. In her words:

“I have really missed you. Don’t do this again; I am starting to cry. Every time someone asks me about you and says, ‘How were you friends with him? He’s so mean,’ I tell them. I would’ve killed myself if, at the time of the Latent fiasco, I hadn’t had Sufi.”

Apoorva added that although a lot had been happening around, her friends would talk to her daily and gave her hope. In her words:

“Every single day that I would wake up, something new would be happening. I would have sleep paralysis because I would be scared. Every time I would wake up, there would be some new news. My friends would talk to me every day, all the time, to say everything would be fine. They are great people, and they had faith in me. I could believe that everything would be alright. I am so glad I had such good people around me.”
