Nandamuri Balakrishna has successfully undergone knee surgery after sustaining an injury while filming his upcoming movie, NBK111. The actor-politician was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where medical examinations revealed a tear in his left quadriceps tendon along with injuries to the supporting tissues around his knee.
According to the hospital, the injury involved the tendon that connects the thigh muscles to the kneecap, as well as tears in the tissues on either side of the knee. After a comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team, Balakrishna underwent a complex surgical procedure to repair the damaged structures and restore stability to the joint.
Three-hour surgery completed successfully
The operation lasted for more than three hours. During the procedure, doctors cleared the accumulated blood around the injured area, reattached the torn quadriceps tendon to the kneecap, and repaired the damaged supporting tissues. The hospital confirmed that the surgery was completed successfully without any complications.
Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Gowtham Chowdary said the injury affected the primary tendon responsible for straightening and stabilising the knee. He added that the surgical team reconstructed the damaged structures as planned and expressed confidence about the actor’s recovery. Balakrishna is currently stable and remains under close post-operative observation. He will begin a structured rehabilitation programme under medical supervision once doctors deem him fit.
Injury occurred during NBK111 shoot
Balakrishna sustained the injury while filming an action sequence for NBK111, directed by Gopichand Malineni. The upcoming action entertainer also stars Kajal Aggarwal in a leading role.
Following the completion of NBK111, Balakrishna is set to collaborate with director Koratala Siva for his next big-budget project. The actor has an exciting slate ahead, and fans will be hoping for his speedy recovery before he returns to the sets.
