Donald Trump’s youngest son is being requested to testify over his links with rape-accused brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate.
The call was made as pressure grows for a US congressional investigation into the misogynist influencers’ links with the President’s inner circle. Democratic congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has urged the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, to “swiftly open” an inquiry into the Tate brothers’ “coordination and extensive relationships with members of the President’s orbit, including his son, Barron Trump.”
The British brothers were arrested by US authorities in Miami on Saturday after prosecutors in Britain issued 38 new charges against them.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate, 39, faces seven further counts of rape, alongside charges relating to sex trafficking and indecent images of a child. Tristan Tate, 38, has been charged with offences including two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Both men deny all allegations.
The brothers have developed close connections with figures around the Trump administration. Andrew Tate said in 2024: “I’m very close with the Trump family. I know them well,” adding that he had spoken to Barron Trump, 20, and looked forward to seeing the President to remind him that “he’s a bulletproof bada**.”
Before Trump returned to power, the Biden administration refused to allow the brothers’ entry into the US.
In a letter to Mr Comer, Ms Ansari referred to a meeting in Washington last week involving the Tate brothers, their representatives and Republican Congressman Wesley Hunt. Her letter cited reports of “detailed, direct, extensive” communications between Andrew Tate and Barron Trump, “as well as the Tate brothers’ broader interactions with high-profile political figures within the president’s personal circle.”
Ms Ansari added: “No individual, regardless of wealth, political party, or access to the first family and the president, is above the law or beyond the reach of justice.” She said the committee should question Barron Trump about “his knowledge” of the Tate brothers’ alleged crimes, and establish whether he had any involvement in, or communication with, his father or administration officials over their legal proceedings.
Just days before Trump returned to power on January 20 last year, the Tate brothers were under investigation in Romania, where they had lived. According to The New York Times, in a text message sent on January 14, Andrew Tate suggested assistance from the Trump administration was already underway.
“I had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things,” he wrote to someone close to him in a message seen by the paper. “Ive been told ill be free soon but Trump needs to see me in Miami.”
The following month, Romanian prosecutors were reportedly instructed from the highest levels of government to seek a compromise with the brothers. Despite concerns, they lifted the Tates’ travel restrictions in a move Romania’s prime minister believed would placate the Trump administration.
“We’re massively back,” Tate declared in a video on February 27 as he and his brother flew by private jet to Florida.
It remains unclear whether Mr Comer will launch an investigation, issue subpoenas or seek testimony from Trump’s youngest child. There is no suggestion that the President’s son committed wrongdoing or played any part in official decisions connected to the Tate case.
Barron Trump, the president’s only child to his current wife, Melania, was reportedly an admirer of Andrew Tate and spoke to him on Zoom in 2024, according to The New York Times. Donald Trump Jr. is also said to have met Tate at Trump Tower in 2017, while Alina Habba, the President’s former lawyer and briefly New Jersey’s top federal prosecutor, called herself a “big fan” during a podcast appearance in January 2025.
Just two days before their arrests, Andrew and Tristan Tate attended a Washington party hosted by Paolo Zampolli, a Trump administration special envoy for global partnerships. Today, Andrew Tate had posted to his account on X: “Day 6 in SHU (special housing unit) This is punitive housing for people who murder their cellmates. No commissary, no phone calls, no yard time.
“The worst possible conditions the US gov provides to terrorists and psychopaths. I am an innocent until proven guilty extradition detainee. I’m wanted by a foreign state. I am an American citizen. WHY AM I HERE?”
The White House, Trump Organisation and representatives for Ms Ansari and Mr Comer have been approached for comment.
Other senior figures in the President’s circle have expressed support for the brothers. Vice President JD Vance follows both men on X, while Donald Trump Jr previously described their detention in Romania as “absolute insanity.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday that Trump had no plans to intervene in the extradition proceedings. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who would ultimately decide whether the brothers are extradited if US courts approve the move, said there was “no role” for the administration while the case remained before the courts “or maybe ever.”
Barron Trump’s reported connection to Andrew Tate has previously drawn criticism from within the President’s family. In January, Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, said: “Now, imagine what kind of… oh gosh, what’s the word? Um, disgraceful, despicable parent you would need to be in order to think it’s OK for your son to listen to and admire Andrew Tate.”
