Adam Peaty proudly kissed wife Holly Ramsay’s growing baby bump after taking home a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games
Adam Peaty made a beeline for Holly Ramsay and their unborn baby after breaking down over his bronze medal win at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 31-year-old finished third in the men’s 100 metres breaststroke final on Saturday, with his wife – daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay – watching proudly from the stands.
After adding yet another medal to his growing collection, the athlete, who had Ramsay-Peaty on his swimming cap, could be seen embracing his partner in the crowd.
In sweet snaps, he was spotted kissing the 26-year-old’s growing baby bump as she grinned widely, before opening up about their bond in a post-race interview.
Adam – who is also dad to son George from a previous relationship – said of his emotional reaction: “She’s always going to be proud of me and I think as a father, it doesn’t matter if you come home with a gold, as long as you come home with a teddy.
“The emotion is something I’m always going to carry and I’m never going to be afraid to show weakness because it’s so important in making stronger people, making stronger men, stronger fathers, stronger husbands, and it’s a realisation of how hard I work.”
Their reunion came after the swimmer endured a very close race where he ended in third place behind winner Sam Williamson, who clocked up a time of 59.17, and runner-up Filip Nowacki, in 59.34.
While the former Strictly Come Dancing star’s time of 59.65 was just milliseconds behind, he is still the world record holder in the event. Adam will get another chance to take home a gold medal in the 50m event later today.
He was seen breaking down in tears over the final result and later touched on his emotional reaction, adding via PA: “It’s hard because I know how hard I work. I know the s**t I’ve been through, which is no fault of my own, but it does take its toll.
“I’m not crying because it’s bronze instead of gold. I’m crying because I know I am better than that. I feel like I couldn’t have put any more in and that’s where it hurts, because I’m like, ‘What’s the point of all the metres every day, what’s the point of being exhausted all the time?’
“‘What’s the point of having to say no to family events so you can go to training’? It has to mean something and for me it has to be human excellence and that is not excellence for me. So that’s the emotion that is unfortunately coming out.”
Adam has had a whirlwind 12 months, following his wedding to Holly in December. Last month, they confirmed that they are set to welcome their first child together with a stunning photo on Instagram.
“Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026,” the mum-to-be captioned the sweet shot. “We can’t wait to meet our baby girl.”
During a recent appearance on BBC Breakfast, he reflected on the last few months, insisting: “2026 has already been one of those years. Our wedding was one of the best days of my life. Watching Holly walk down the aisle, it’s a view that I’ll never ever forget.
“Having Gordon as my father-in-law is an incredible blessing. I’m also expecting a baby little girl. Well, I’m incredibly excited. For me, that role of being a father has been just incredible. To have another human in this world that loves and cherishes you, I think it’s the biggest blessing.
“My love for them isn’t going to be judged by a medal, and obviously with Holly going through pregnancy, all I can pray for is her happiness and health, as well as the baby. And for me, that does push me even more to, I guess, grow up.”
