VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern warning to party leaders against sharing public platforms with YSR Congress leaders.
This follows a political controversy triggered by TD leader and government whip Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu appearing together at a condolence meeting in Guntur.
The warning comes after photographs and videos of the two engaging in a cordial conversation during the condolence meeting for veteran Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham in Guntur went viral on social media.
Naidu instructed state TD president Palla Srinivasa Rao and water minister Nimmala Ramanaidu to seek explanation from Uma.
Addressing a teleconference with party leaders on Sunday, Naidu made it clear that TD functionaries should avoid sharing stages with YSRC leaders, as “such incidents send the wrong message to the party cadre and the public.” Referring to the opposition party, he alleged that the YSRC was “like a poisonous tree” and urged every TD leader to remain vigilant.
The chief minister accused the YSRC of pursuing a political agenda centered on creating divisions among people in the name of caste and religion. He alleged that the opposition was attempting to provoke social discord and cautioned TDP leaders against falling into the YSRC’s “trap.”
During the teleconference, Naidu also reviewed the prevailing political situation and outlined the party’s future strategy. Party leaders, he said, must focus on development and welfare programmes instead of getting distracted by political controversies.
Resolving public grievances, he said, should remain the party’s primary objective.
The chief minister directed TD leaders to stay away from any activity that could disturb law and order and asked them to strengthen their connect with the people at the grassroots level.
