When the Maple Leafs opened their campaign, Maccelli skated alongside Auston Matthews on the top line, occupying Mitch Marner’s former spot that required creating for one of the league’s stars.
“I don’t think anyone thought he was gonna be Mitch Marner 2.0,” Mike Johnson, a TSN analyst, told The Post.
