Andrew and Tristan Tate are being held in isolation while fighting extradition to Britain to face sexual assault charges

Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate face serious threats in the Miami federal jail, where they are being held while fighting extradition to Britain, their lawyer has claimed.

The two brothers, both US-UK citizens, were arrested in Florida on July 18 at London’s request. UK prosecutors are seeking to extradite them to face over 59 charges in Britain. The alleged offenses, which involve seven purported victims, are connected with rape, assault, trafficking, and “indecent images of a child and extreme pornography,” prosecutors said in a statement. Both have denied any wrongdoing.

The Tates’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, told reporters on Monday that, since their arrest, they have been kept in the Special Housing Unit, which he described as solitary confinement. However, he argued that, despite their isolation, the nature of the allegations have placed them in danger.

“They have a target on their back that’s very, very real,” McBride said, adding that the brothers risk being “stabbed, jumped, murdered” because they have been accused of sexual offenses, while warning that prisoners could compare them to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
