HYDERABAD: City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Tuesday visited H‑NEW constables N. Mahender Yadav and M. Vamsidhar, who were injured by a motorist attempting to flee a drug inspection on July 26. Sajjanar went to their residences in Prashanthnagar, Langer Houz, to inquire about their health and overall well‑being.
Sajjanar commended their bravery and dedication while discharging duties. Instilling courage in them, he reassured the injured personnel, saying, “Do not lose heart; the police department will stand by you in every possible way.” DCP Task Force Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad also accompanied the commissioner during the visit.
On July 26, the constables, part of an H‑NEW team, conducted a check near Tilak Road, Abids. In an attempt to escape, the driver of a car (TG‑12‑8766) that they had stopped suddenly reversed at high speed, deliberately targeting the police personnel.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Abids police station against the fleeing driver for committing a life‑threatening assault on police officers on duty, and an investigation is underway.
