Warangal: The 15-day Shakambhari Navaratri celebrations concluded on a grand note at the historic Sri Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal on Wednesday, coinciding with the Ashada Pournami. Thousands of devotees thronged the shrine for the divine darshan of Goddess Bhadrakali in her magnificent Shakambhari incarnation.
The presiding deity had been elaborately decorated with nearly 4,000 kilograms of vegetables, fruits, and leafy greens, symbolising Goddess Shakambhari, the divine provider of food and nourishment. The floral and vegetable adornment began at 3 a.m. and continued until 9:30 a.m. Darshan for devotees commenced at 10 a.m. after the performance of special rituals.
Massive crowds turned up at the temple to offer prayers despite intermittent rainfall throughout the day. The temple premises reverberated with chants of “Bhadrakali Sharanam Mama” and “Shakambhari Sharanam Mama,” creating a deeply devotional atmosphere.
Temple executive officer (EO) Ramala Sunitha oversaw elaborate arrangements with the support of the police and various government departments, ensuring smooth crowd management and hassle-free darshan.
Temple priests said Goddess Shakambhari is revered in Hindu scriptures as an incarnation of divine Annapurna, believed to protect devotees from famine, disease, and suffering by blessing them with food and prosperity.
Dr. Manduva Seshagiri Rao and Renuka, apart from Emani Harikrishna and Smita of Hyderabad sponsored the special decoration. NCC volunteers and members of various service organisations offered voluntary services in managing devotees.
Bhadrakasha Seva Samithi distributed prasadam, while the Marwadi Mitra Mandali served buttermilk to devotees.
The celebrations concluded with the Poornahuti ritual. EO Sunitha thanked police, government departments, media representatives, voluntary organisations, and devotees for their cooperation in making the festival a grand success.
