HYDERABAD: The BRS on Thursday demanded that the state government step up operations at pumping stations and fill all reservoirs on Godavari and Krishna rivers in the wake of good inflows in the two rivers.

Addressing a press meet, former minister V. Srinivas Goud said heavy inflows were being experienced at Jurala but the government was releasing water downstream in the guise of power generation.

“The approach of storing water only for drinking water needs is not correct. Water should also be provided for agriculture. The need now is to capture every single drop of water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers. All lift schemes on the Godavari and Krishna should be operated,” he said.
