WARANGAL: An apple-laden truck overturned on the Warangal–Khammam National Highway near Matedu village in Thorrur mandal of Mahabubabad district on Thursday morning, resulting in traffic disruption and the loss of its cargo after onlookers collected the scattered fruit.
According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the roadside. Boxes of apples were strewn across the highway following the accident.
Police said people from nearby villages gathered at the spot and began collecting the apples. As news of the accident spread, more people arrived carrying bags and plastic covers. Witnesses said the consignment was cleared from the road within about 15 minutes.
The incident disrupted traffic on the busy highway for nearly an hour. Thorrur police reached the spot, dispersed the crowd and restored the movement of vehicles. The overturned truck was later removed from the road.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
