If this was it for Brooks Raley, then he can certainly be proud of his Mets curtain call.
The lefty reliever got the win against the Marlins and recorded five big, scoreless outs in what will likely be his final appearance for the team ahead of the trade deadline.
“Obviously, the next three days, we don’t know what Brooks’ destination might be, and you want to see good people who’ve given a lot to this organization have good moments,” interim manager Andy Green said. “And him getting a win I thought was fitting and special as well.”
Raley has been with the Mets since 2023, made 148 appearances for the team and fought back from Tommy John surgery to reestablish himself as one of the league’s strongest relievers.
And as he told reporters following the 4-2 win, he couldn’t help but reflect on his Mets tenure as he went to the bench following his latest, and perhaps last outing for the club.
“This organization has been great to me, and hopefully we get back out there for another one in the next couple days,” he said. “But you know, it’s just the reality of it.”
“I’ve been developed a lot here,” he continued. “I thought I knew who I was as a player when I came over from Tampa. And this organization kind of embraced me.”
Raley will likely finish his Mets run with an impressive 2.33 ERA, and he’s formed part of a stout bullpen this season alongside Luke Weaver and A.J. Minter. Weaver is also a prime trade candidate, while Minter was traded to the Twins just minutes after Raley’s postgame remarks.

That stable is at least partly broken up now, and Raley is not expected to pitch Friday. But this losing season has only magnified the bonds he shares with his fellow relievers.
“I love Dev and Luke and Mint and Brazo,” Raley said. “You go down the list. I love these guys.
“It’s been a lot of fun to be around. Especially in a tough year, you kind of got to bond and fight for each other and cheer for one another. And I think we do a good job with that.”
