Holly Ramsay spoke of the ‘cost’ of her husband Adam Ramsay-Peaty’s disappointment at the Commonwealth Games this summer in Glasgow

Holly Ramsay has heaped praise on her husband Adam Ramsay-Peaty after his Commonwealth Games disappointment.

The Olympic swimmer wrapped his stint in Glasgow with a second place finish in the 4x100m Medley Relay. Following his races, Adam hinted he had been impacted by the noise around his family feud.

The drama started when Adam uninvited his parents to his wedding to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly. Adam said the public feud with his estranged family “has taken its toll”, but strongly maintained that the bitter rift is “no fault of my own.”

Now, his wife Holly has broken her silence to discuss Adam’s Commonwealth journey, admitting it has come at a cost.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a string of photos of her and Adam including a sweet one of them posing in the stands. Alluding to a tough ride the last few weeks, she wrote: “Proud. Watching your comeback to championship racing has been inspiring.

“It’s not been an easy journey but your determination and faith have never wavered and we will keep going, through the good and the bad together. 52 International Championship Medals is truly incredible. You reminded us what it costs to keep coming back.”

Just yesterday, Adam did an interview with BBC Breakfast, where he spoke about the tough skin he’s developed over the months.

“I’ve got very tough skin that has been built quite aggressively over this last six months especially. But for me, it doesn’t really matter, to be honest. I know what my values are. I know what my morals are. I know my principles,” he said.

“I can look myself in the mirror and be at peace with myself, knowing the person I am.” He later discussed the upcoming arrival of his baby with wife Holly, where he was quizzed about the sleepless nights and how they might affect his training.

“Thankfully, I’ve got an incredible wife and an incredible support circle around me,” he said, “When you have children, they do take a lot of work – in the sense of a lot of energy, and you’re gonna miss a lot of sleep. But I think we’ve also got to look at the other side of things. What an incredible gift and an incredible blessing.”

Adam won two bronze medals in his solo races this Commonwealth Games and also picked up a silver medal in the medley relay race, which was one by Australia’s team.
