Ariana Grande’s raunchiest album yet as she brags about sex life after split from Ethan Slater
Ariana Grande‘s raunchiest album yet Petal has been released as the star reflects on her love life and doesn’t hold back on how she’s getting on post break-up from Ethan Slater.
Ariana and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater dated for three years after meeting on the set of Wicked, but called it quits earlier this year with reports emerging in June that the couple had parted ways.
Her new album has now been released and the racy lyrics see the star divulging details of her romantic relationships, discussing how the grass has been ‘greener’ since their split, and how her bedroom antics could ‘make a grown man cry.’
Her album Petal is perhaps her most explicit yet as the star opens up shares her bedroom secrets, detailing leaving an unnamed ex begged for more after giving him the best sex of his life.
In track 6, ‘Big Feelings’ she says: “Pussy so sweet, a tear fell from his eye” she then later says: “This sex is ’bout to make a grown man cry /There’s no need to break down /Leave it all in my head.”
In track 9 ‘Like I Do’ she says: “No one fucks you like I do/ I’ve been keeping your girl inspired / I know my brain give you ideas/ stay on your mind like all the time / ya you still watching from the sides / ya you still show up first in line.”
She then appears to discuss how much better her sex life is following a break-up, detailing that the ‘grass is greener.’
In track 10, ‘Never Get Over Me’, she sings: “The grass is way greener / Since I been beneath ya / I make sure every second, mm, really counts.”
However, it’s not all about sex, the star also details her love for her ex and her sadness at breaking up. Track 5 ‘Oh Well’ adds an emotionally raw layer: “It sucks because I love you for real (For real, for real) /And I want to believe the love I never got is real / So I find it in you / But don’t worry ’cause you’ll keep getting breakup songs about you.”
The star hasn’t explicitly named Ethan in the song, and in fact the songs could be detailing a different relationship.
Before she began dating Ethan in 2023, she was married to Dalton Gomez, who she was in a relationship with from 2020 until 2023. Before that she briefly dated Mikey Foster in 2019, and in 2018 was with former SNL comic Pete Davidson, to whom she was briefly engaged. Between 2016 until 2018 she was also with the late singer Mac Miller.
From 2015 until 2016, Ariana dated Ricky Alvarez, whom she has actually been spotted spending time with again, 10 years after their breakup. She has also sparked relationship rumours with Ricky after changing lyrics in her song ‘Thank u Next’ from “Wrote some songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh,” to “Wrote some songs about Ricky, I know he’s still got my back,” while singing on stage.
This is Ariana’s first album in two years since she released Eternal Sunshine in 2024, she has said that unlike other albums she wrote from a place of ‘unfiltered rage’.
“I think [fans] will feel familiarity and comfort in it,” she said of the album to Apple Music. “Yet at the same time it’s very experimental and different for me, and also I wrote from a place that I don’t usually, which is unfiltered rage.”
She laughed and added that she was unfiltered in this album: “I usually am too shy to tap into that, and I think this time I didn’t filter as much as I usually do.”
