At a time when the shooting of Dragon was progressing briskly, the film’s team suffered a setback after Jr NTR sustained a shoulder injury while filming an action sequence for the Prashanth Neel directorial. Doctors have advised the actor to take around eight weeks of rest, bringing production to a temporary halt and forcing the makers to push their upcoming schedules.
Sri Lanka schedule cancelled
According to reports, Jr NTR and the film’s leading lady, Rukmini Vasanth, were scheduled to shoot a duet in Sri Lanka during August-September. The logistics for the overseas schedule were reportedly almost finalised when the actor’s injury forced the team to put its plans on hold.
The Sri Lankan schedule is now expected to be pushed to a later date, with shooting likely to resume in October, subject to Jr NTR’s recovery. The development could also affect the filming of the second instalment of Dragon. The actor was earlier reported to be simultaneously shooting portions of both parts.
Injuries plague Dragon
Jr NTR plays Luger, an assassin-in-chief for the Afghan Trading Company, reportedly nicknamed Dragon, who finds himself caught between rival cartels and law enforcement. To achieve the lean and intense physicality required for the role, the actor underwent a significant transformation and shed around 15 kilos.
During the process, he had earlier suffered a sprain to his left wrist while working out at the gym. The injury reportedly kept him away from the shoot for around four weeks.
Following the latest shoulder injury, Jr NTR’s PR team issued an update assuring fans that there was no reason to panic and that the actor was doing fine. Fans are hopeful that the recovery period will not affect the film’s theatrical release, which is scheduled for June 2027. With several months still remaining before its release, the makers are reportedly confident of making up for the lost shooting time.
