The White Sox, one season removed from a 102-loss campaign and currently leading the American League Central, made a splash ahead of the trade deadline.
Chicago acquired two-time All-Star Luis Castillo from the Mariners in exchange for reliever Seranthony Domínguez, outfielder Nolan Jones and prospect Boston Smith, The Post’s Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman confirmed Saturday.
Castillo, who finished fifth in voting for the Cy Young Award in 2023, has struggled to start the 2026 season, collecting a 5.06 ERA and pitching to a 3-9 record across 20 starts.
But the potential is there, and he’ll add to a Chicago pitching staff that sits with the No. 16 rotation in MLB for ERA at 4.29, according to FanGraphs.
The White Sox will also take on the remaining money for Castillo’s contract, according to ESPN.
Castillo also set to make $22.75 million next season with a vesting option for 2028 if he throws 180 innings in 2027.
Domínguez has appeared in 43 games this season, collecting a 3.99 ERA, and will join a Mariners team that sits four games under .500 (54-58) but just 2 ½ games back in the AL West.
