Drunk Mother Drowns 9-Month-Old Baby in Bairamalguda Lake, Arrested

The accused, Lokasani Rajeshwari, wife of Ravinder and a resident of Injapur, was taken into custody after walkers witnessed the incident at around 6.30 pm and alerted police through Dial 100.

The body of the baby was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination. According to police, Rajeshwari confessed during questioning that she had consumed alcohol before the incident.

A source told Deccan Chronicle that the accused married Ravinder about seven years ago. The couple suffered a miscarriage around two years after their marriage before the now-deceased daughter was born.

The source claimed that Rajeshwari would frequently stay away from home for three to four days at a stretch, sometimes taking the infant with her and at other times leaving her behind. Four days ago, she left home with the child and did not return.

On Sunday evening, walkers at Bairamalguda lake allegedly noticed Rajeshwari holding the baby in the water. Before anyone could rush to rescue the infant, the child died.

The child’s father, Ravinder Reddy, accompanied police and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination. Police registered a case and are investigating the motive behind the alleged killing and other circumstances surrounding the incident.

Two held for plotting electrocution murder

Adilabad Rural police on Sunday registered a case against three persons for allegedly conspiring to kill a man by electrocution and arrested two of the accused.

The arrested were identified as Bade Ramesh (40) of Kolamguda in Ankoli village and Pulledu Ganganna (35) of Ankoli village in Adilabad Rural mandal. The prime accused, Madigam Swamy, is absconding.

According to police, the accused allegedly plotted to kill S. Sudhakar Goud of Ankoli village due to personal enmity between him and Swamy.

Adilabad Rural Circle Inspector Saleem Pasha said Swamy had allegedly hired Ganganna and Ramesh to execute the conspiracy by electrocuting Sudhakar Goud.

Police have registered a case and launched efforts to trace the absconding accused.

Cyberabad CP Suspends Raidurgam Head Constable over Dial-100 Negligence

Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh suspended Raidurgam head constable Syed Younus for neglecting an emergency Dial-100 complaint and failing to respond to a road accident near IKEA, Gachibowli.

Younus was on duty when a two-car collision occurred around midnight on August 1. According to police, the victim called Dial-100 twice seeking immediate assistance. Instead of visiting the accident spot or ensuring police assistance reached the caller, the head constable allegedly closed both complaints, reportedly citing the caller as troublesome.

Following an internal review, senior officers found that the emergency calls were closed without any field response. Taking serious note of the lapse, the Cyberabad Commissioner ordered the immediate suspension of the head constable.

Police said the suspension would remain in force until the completion of a departmental inquiry.

Cyberabad Drunk-Driving Drive: 333 Motorists Booked over Weekend, Biker Violations Highest

Cyberabad traffic police booked 333 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol during a special weekend enforcement drive, with two-wheeler riders accounting for the overwhelming majority of offenders.

According to the police, 269 of those caught were riding two-wheelers, while 11 were travelling in three-wheelers, 51 were driving four-wheelers and two were operating heavy vehicles.

The Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) analysis showed that 262 offenders recorded alcohol levels between 36 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 50 motorists registered BAC levels between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while 21 offenders recorded levels ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.

All the offenders will be produced before the court.

Cyberabad police stated that drunk driving is a serious offence and the accused will be booked under BNS section 105 which reads culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The offence carries a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment along with a fine.

Police also released details of court disposals during the week from July 27 to August 1. A total of 232 drunk driving cases were disposed of, with three offenders sentenced to both fine and jail, six receiving fine along with social service, and the remaining 223 let off with fines alone.

Three drown in separate incidents in Karimnagar

Three persons, including a nine-year-old boy and a woman, drowned in separate incidents in Karimnagar district on Sunday.

According to police, Golkonda Maniprasad (23), a native of Alugunur, drowned in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD). He had gone to the reservoir with his friends in the evening when he accidentally slipped into the water and drowned.

Police reached the spot, shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination and registered a case.

In another incident, Rithik Kumar (9) allegedly drowned in Allaikunta tank at Molangur village in Shankarapatnam mandal.

Police said the Class III student had gone fishing with his friends when he accidentally slipped into the tank. As he did not know how to swim, he drowned. Family members rushed to the spot after being alerted by the other children.

In a separate incident, Bogam Prasanna Lakshmi (30) reportedly drowned in a well in Ellandakunta mandal. Police said she accidentally fell into the well while drawing water.

Police have registered separate cases and are investigating the incidents.

Fintech firm booked for cheating trader of ₹3.1 crore

The Cyberabad police economic offences wing (EOW) said it had registered a case against four members of a fintech company after a Hyderabad‑based businessman alleged that they cheated him of ₹3.1 crore by failing to transfer company shares despite receiving substantial investments and later demanding additional money.

According to the FIR, the complainant, founder of Finkey Payments Private Limited, stated that he established his payment gateway company in 2025 and, while seeking regulatory approvals, was introduced to Aziz Ali, director of Hookolu Pay Fintech Private Limited, through a Mumbai‑based consultancy.

The victim alleged that Aziz Ali, along with his brother Arif Ali, mother Mamoni Begum and sister Runa Begum, presented Hookolu Pay as a fast‑growing fintech company that had obtained approvals from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and was looking for investors.

Based on their representations, the complainant entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the accused on July 7, 2025, under which 3,000 shares were to be transferred to his company within one year. He alleged that apart from purchasing a 50 per cent stake, the accused demanded an additional ₹2 crore as goodwill, to which he agreed.

The complainant stated that he transferred ₹1 crore to Hookolu Pay and ₹25 lakh each to the personal bank accounts of Mamoni Begum, Aziz Ali and Runa Begum. He also alleged that ₹25 lakh was paid in cash to Aziz Ali. Besides this, he claimed to have spent around ₹1.5 crore on outsourcing and consultancy firms and another ₹60 lakh towards operational expenses, taking his total investment to ₹3.1 crore.

The complainant also alleged that despite repeated assurances, the promised shares were never transferred and that the accused later demanded more money, claiming the value of the company’s shares had increased. When he sought either the shares or the return of his investment, the accused stopped responding.

Based on his complaint, EOW police registered an FIR against Aziz Ali, Arif Ali, Mamoni Begum, Runa Begum and others on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. Investigation is underway.

BMW damaged in valet custody, pub told to pay

Hyderabad District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission reportedly directed a city pub and its valet parking service providers to compensate a customer whose high-end allegedly went missing after being handed over for valet parking, holding them responsible for deficiency in service.

According to media reports, the complainant visited Zero40 Brewing with friends and entrusted his BMW to the valet service. He later alleged that he was made to wait before learning that the vehicle had gone missing while it was in the custody of the valet staff.

The vehicle was subsequently recovered about a year later, but the owner claimed it had sustained damage and sought compensation for the losses suffered.

The commission found that the customer produced documents, including the valet parking slip, photographs of the damaged vehicle and messages exchanged after the incident.

Based on the material placed before it, the commission concluded that the vehicle had been damaged while under the care of the valet service and that there was a deficiency in service.

The commission is reported to have directed Zero40 Brewing and the concerned valet parking operators to pay compensation of over ₹2 lakh towards repair expenses, along with amounts for mental agony and litigation costs.

7 Ashram School Students Fall Ill After Food Poisoning in Mancherial

Seven students of the tribal ashram school fell sick due to food poisoning, complaining of vomiting and loose motions after eating food at their hostel in Bellampalli of Mancherial district on Saturday night.

The students alleged that hostel staff did not take them to hospital immediately when the complained of discomfort. Their parents rushed to the hostel after learning their children’s health condition and took them to hospital,

Doctors said the condition of the students was stable.

Travel agent booked for cheating man of ₹8.8 lakh

A travel agent has been booked for cheating a complainant of ₹8.8 lakh under the pretext of providing a job placement in South Korea.

According to Banjara Hills police, Mohammed Nazir, owner of MS Overseas, Banjara Hills Road No. 10, had allegedly tricked Mohammed Mahbub, a resident of Sri Rama Nagar, Yusufguda, by promising to place him in South Korea and collected ₹8 lakh in instalments.

Mahbuob said he travelled to South Korea but found that his name was not registered and returned. After returning to India, Nazir promised to repay ₹3 lakh and the remaining ₹5.8 lakh later, but failed to do so. Police registered a case against Nazir based on the victim’s complaint.

Man murdered at Uppuguda railway station

An unidentified man was murdered two persons at Platform 1 of Uppuguda railway station, Chatrinaka police said on Sunday. This followed a quarrel that broke out between two people on the platform at around 4.30 pm. The assailants repeatedly attacked the victim with granite and marble stones and cement bricks before smashing his head with a boulder.

Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel immediately reached the spot and detained the assailants.

Officials revealed that the victim was in a state of severe intoxication and could not provide proper details. The deceased is believed to be around 30 to 35 years old. Special teams from Chatrinaka and GRP railways are probing the murder case.

Six‑year‑old girl killed in lorry accident at Balanagar

A six‑year‑old girl was killed after she fell from a motorcycle and came under the wheels of a lorry at Padmanagar Phase‑1 near Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple under Balanagar police station limits on Sunday afternoon. The complaint was lodged by her mother, a resident of Ramanthapur.

Police said the accident occurred when the child was travelling on a motorcycle with her uncle. As the two‑wheeler proceeded near the temple, it collided with a lorry. During the collision, the child lost balance, fell off the motorcycle and came under the lorry’s wheel. She sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Police rushed to the accident site, shifted the body for post‑mortem examination and informed the family. Based on the mother’s complaint, Balanagar police registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and whether negligence on the part of either driver contributed to the incident.
