Australian billionaire James Packer has tied the knot for a third time, marrying Canadian-born former model Kylie Lim at an intimate private ceremony on the Italian island of Sardinia.
The 58-year-old son of media mogul Kerry Packer and the 46-year-old Lim were engaged in March. A spokesman for Packer confirmed the pair’s marriage to news.com.au on Thursday.
The wedding is believed to be Lim’s first but the third for Packer, who has been engaged five times in total. The pair had previously dated in the late 2010s before reuniting last year.
Packer was married to Australian fashion designer and Tigerlily swimwear founder Jodhi Meares from 1999 to 2002. He had three children, Indigo, Jackson and Emmanuelle, with former model and singer Erica Baxter during the pair’s marriage between 2007 and 2013.
The children’s initials were used to name Packer’s 108-metre gigayacht IJE, which online vessel trackers showed anchored off Sardinia’s north-east coast on Thursday afternoon. Its last port was the Spanish island of Mallorca, where Packer’s niece Francesca recently celebrated her marriage to businessman Robert Bates.
The Benetti yacht, the largest built by the Italian shipmaker, was completed in 2019 and came at an estimated cost of about $350 million. Packer put it up for sale in 2021 with an asking price of about $280 million.
Packer also had a high-profile nine-month engagement with singer Mariah Carey in 2016 before a split he later described as a “trainwreck”. The pop star kept the $13 million engagement ring.
In the 1990s Packer was engaged to former model Tziporah Malkah, known at the time as Kate Fischer.
Packer has kept his fortune – now estimated at more than $5 billion – out of the limelight since selling his stake in Crown Resorts for more than $3 billion as part of a takeover of the troubled casino operator.
The billionaire has a range of investments in property and tech shares, including a $US100 million ($141.9 million) stake in AI chipmaker Nvidia, and more recently an investment in the company behind OnlyFans.
