Vijayawada: Political tensions flared once again in Vijayawada over the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment issue.
YSRCP leaders, under the leadership of former MLA Malladi Vishnu, launched relay hunger strikes demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process.
However, the situation turned tense after TDP MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao (Bonda Uma) arrived at the protest site along with his supporters, alleging that the protest camp had been set up without official permission.
The situation escalated as workers of both parties raised slogans against each other. TDP supporters removed the protest tent, while YSRC workers attempted to prevent them from doing so. Police immediately intervened, restrained members of both groups, and tried to defuse the tension. Senior police officials deployed heavy security across Vijayawada to prevent any untoward incidents.
Participating in the protest, former Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and other YSRCP leaders demanded a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the mega DSC recruitment process and called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
Addressing the gathering, Pinnelli, who is also the YSRC president for Palnadu district, alleged that serious irregularities had taken place in the DSC recruitment. He claimed that large sums of money had changed hands in appointments made under the sports quota and that government orders had been manipulated.
He accused the coalition government of failing to fulfil the promises it had made before coming to power and demanded that Minister Lokesh resign immediately.
Pinnelli also alleged that the government was using the police to suppress the opposition. He warned that police officials should act responsibly and said that attempts to curb democratic protests would have consequences.
