Former model Katie Price opened up about her mum Amy’s terminal health condition as she admitted the illness may force her to buy a home to help out with caring
Katie Price revealed she may have to buy a new home to support her mum as she gave fans an upsetting health update on her parent.
The former glamour model, 48, is known to be close to her mum Amy, who suffers from a terminal illness.
Amy Price was diagnosed with the terminal lung condition idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017 and she recently suffered a lengthy hospital stay.
Katie’s mum currently lives on the Isle of Wight, and while the mum-of-five lives in a four-bedroom mansion in Sussex, she admitted she may need to buy a new home to help look after her mum.
Speaking on her podcast, the Katie Price Show, she said: “I said if there was like a little, I’m still having my house here.
“But I said if there were stables or something in the Isle of Wight, like a one-bedroom or two-bedroom, just little place for stables.
“Then I could do both. Have a little lookie look. No, I’m not moving to the Isle of Wight but I’d get a place there.”
Katie conceded the situation with her mum is “hard”, while her sister Sophie, who she co-hosts the podcast with, said “then we could all help with mum, basically”.
Katie continued: “We can all be the carer for mother because I think she needs help now and Paul needs help and it’s not fair from Stuart on his own.
“So we’re all taking it in turns. We’ve all decided as a family we’ve got to take it in turns. But that’s what families do. You all looked after me when I needed it. And now mum needs looking after in a different way.”
The condition is a chronic illness where lung tissue becomes thick, stiff, and scarred over time. Symptoms can include shortness of breath, a dry cough and tiredness.
Katie previously became very emotional about her mum’s terminal illness live on stage.
Speaking at the launch of her Sky documentary Katie Price: Nothing To Hide in London back in June, Katie thanked her mum Amy for being there for her during a difficult time despite her ongoing health battle.
Katie told the audience: “She only got out of hospital five days ago and she’s been in there for weeks. And the fact you’re here looking gorgeous.” She then reportedly had to stop there to wipe her eyes as she began to cry.
Earlier this year, Katie posted a video highlighting how her mum’s physical condition had changed.
She said: “As you can all see, she is a lot more frail than she used to be. But don’t let that fool you because her head is still screwed on!”
And in March last year, Katie explained that Amy had been struggling to walk after undergoing a lung transplant as she continues to fight IPF.
