PM Modi Salutes India’s Weavers on National Handloom Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday saluted the skill, creativity, and dedication of India’s weavers and artisans on the occasion of National Handloom Day. In a social media message, he said that weavers and artisans have preserved and enriched the country’s traditions.

“Our Government will continue to support the handloom sector, which is an important pillar of rural empowerment, women-led development, and the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged people to share their favourite handloom products and GRWM (Get Ready With Me) videos using the hashtag #NationalHandloomDay to encourage and support those associated with the handloom sector.

On August 6, Narendra Modi also shared a video on X, urging the promotion of India’s handloom diversity.

On August 7, the Ministry of Textiles will celebrate the 12th National Handloom Day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC) in New Delhi. According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Textiles, President Droupadi Murmu will attend the celebrations as the Chief Guest. Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita, Secretary (Textiles) Neelam Shami Rao and Development Commissioner (Handlooms) Dr M Beena will also be present on the occasion.
