In much of Germany, night time temperatures had only finally dipped below 20C on Thursday night. But another heatwave is set to move in over most of the country.
Keep those windows wide-open on Friday night to Saturday morning, because in most of Germany this will be your last chance to cool your home down for most of the week to come.
After a couple of cooler days on Thursday and Friday, temperatures are expected to rise again across most of the country over the weekend and into the next week as Europe faces yet another heatwave.
At the start of the weekend on Saturday, temperatures between 30 and 33C are expected “in large parts of southwest and southern Germany”.
Elsewhere temperatures will rise to around 25 to 29C, according to the German Weather Service (DWD).
Only in the far north will it remain below 25 degrees.

Heat warnings in effect on Sunday
On Sunday it will be hot again with highs between 30 and 36C. In central and southern regions, warnings against heat stress are expected to be issued. These warnings are triggered when the air temperature rises above 32C.
Only in the far north will the temperatures remain below 30C, according to the German Weather Service.
Looking to the coming week, the DWD expects some rain in parts of the far north. In these areas, the weather will then cool to around 25C.
Further south, extending to the low mountain range, classic summer weather is expected — daily highs between 25 and 30C, with occasional clouds.
For most of the week, however, and in most places, people in Germany can expect what is basically a continuation of the hot weather that has been common this summer. There will be plenty of sunshine, with high temperatures ranging from 30 and 35C.
The heat is also expected to bring some risk of showers and thunderstorms.
