'Thudakkam' Movie Review, Vismaya Mohanlal Makes A Promising Debut And Steals The Show

Thudakkam is currently the talk of the town. Vismaya Mohanlal, the daughter of renowned actor Mohanlal, has officially made her acting debut with the action-thriller film, Thudakkam. Vismaya is seen in the lead role and has stepped into the shoes of the character, ‘Meena’. The Malayalam film was released in theatres on August 7, 2026. Now, if you are wondering whether to watch it, we will guide you.

Plotline of Thudakkam

The story of Thudakkam follows ‘Meena’. She and her father, ‘Ravi’ (played by Sai Kumar), have moved into a new house. There aren’t any other houses in the locality. Only the landlord’s house is on the opposite side of the road. One day, ‘Meenu’ leaves for the nearby city to write an exam. However, she doesn’t return even after the expected time, leaving ‘Ravi’ tensed and panicked. He immediately approaches the police, but they fail to trace her initially.

Luckily, ‘Meenu’ returns home soon and explains the reason behind her late arrival to them. But little did ‘Meenu’ know that the devil played by Aashish Joe Anthony secretly followed her home. He is a serial sex offender. From this point, the film, Thudakkam becomes a survival thriller. In the final scenes, ‘Meenu’, who is trained in martial arts, fights back the antagonist. In the film, Mohanlal makes a cameo and is seen playing the role of ‘Meenu’s’ martial arts trainer.

Thudakkam‘s review

Vismaya Mohanlal steals the spotlight with her action sequences. However, her overall performance was satisfactory. Thudakkam marks the debut for both Vismaya and Aashish Joe Antony, the son of producer Antony Perumbavoor. Aashish Joe Antony is seen as the villain of the story. He has successfully made the character look creepy and dangerous. His body language was clear enough to convey that the character was truly evil. However, it was Mohanlal’s presence that appeared forceful.

Netizens and movie critics have shared their reviews on X (formerly Twitter). A user wrote, “#Thudakkam – 4/5! #VismayaMohanlal – Absolutely nailed it! She was more confident than her peers in her debut, displaying a range of emotions in a subtle manner like her dad. The fight sequences were absolutely top-notch #Mohanlal’sdaughter. Ashish just got one line and created a terrific antagonist with mere presence. Jakes Bejoy’s score and Jude Anthony’s making. Climax fight #Mohanlal cameo was more like a fan boy moment.”

Another user penned, “Watched #Thudakkam. A decent film in every aspect. Neither too good nor bad. Vismaya did well, esp with fights. Old school making. Technically fine. Great 1st half. Generic script, but engaging. Amateurish dialogues & lack of wow moments are the major negatives. Forced cameo by Mohanlal 3/5.” A third user shared, “#Thudakkam – A Satisfying Debut Film #VismayaMohanlal & Aashish shine in their debut performances. Jude’s execution works well, and Jakes Bejoy’s BGM enhances the impact. The action portions in the second half stand tall.”

A critic wrote, “#Thudakkam is a good watch and a promising debut for both Vismaya and Ashish. The film stays engaging throughout, with Jude presenting a decent plot in a gripping and interesting manner. The action sequences in the second half stand out and add a strong punch to the film. Jakes Bejoy is superb with his background score, maintaining the mood and intensity of the film throughout. Overall, a well-made and engaging watch.”

Another critic shared, “#Thudakkam 4/5 A gripping, no-drag entertainer. Vismaya Mohanlal is a pleasant surprise with effortless screen presence. Jude Anthony Joseph directs with tight pacing. Performances are solid, music hits at the right moments, and the climax delivers the hype.” We suggest giving Thudakkam a one-time watch if you are a true fan of action thriller films.
