Kankipadu: An 18-year-old degree student allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room in Kankipadu on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Bhagya Sri, a native of Ithavaram village in Nandigama mandal. She was pursuing her second year of degree.
According to reports, Bhagya Sri allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her hostel room. On receiving information, Kankipadu police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Government Hospital in Uyyuru for post-mortem examination.
The family members of the deceased were inconsolable.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
