Muzaffarpur: An SUV mowed down a Bihar police personnel and injured another before it crashed into a roadside eatery here, wounding the owner, and overturned, officials said on Sunday.
Muzaffarpur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Suchitra Kumari said the incident occurred on Saturday evening when Bihar Special Armed Police Constable Bhargav Bhushan and a sub-inspector, both posted at Motipur police station, were going to a local market.
According to eyewitnesses, a Mahindra Scorpio SUV ran over the two police personnel, killing Bhushan on the spot, while the sub-inspector was grievously injured.
After hitting them, the SUV crashed into a roadside eatery, injuring the owner, before overturning in a roadside ditch.
The injured sub-inspector and the eatery owner were taken to the Motipur Primary Health Centre and later referred to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for further treatment, said the deputy SP.
“Police arrested the jeep driver and seized the vehicle. Further investigation was underway,” she said.
