Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas revealed Prince Harry’s touching comment after her ‘pinch me’ performance’

Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas has shared Prince’s Harry’s sweet response to her heartfelt performance. The singer, 31, took part in David Foster’s charity gala in Canada over the weekend, where the Duke of Sussex, 41, was in attendance.

She dazzled the guests with a rendition of Tomorrow, from Annie, as well as covering Frank Sinatra’s My Way. Unpacking the event in a new interview, the ITV star shared that he was among those who greeted her after the performance, and shared how much it meant to him.

“When I was on stage, I joked about meeting his dad before adding, ‘Sorry he couldn’t make it. He sent me instead’,” she told the Sun. “Oh my god – I say such silly things when I’m nervous, but Harry started laughing.”

“When I got down off stage he just came forward and gave me a big cuddle,” she recalled. “And he went, ‘Sydnie, I felt every word. I really felt that in the back of my throat’.”

She also said Prince Harry ignored traditional royal protocol by embracing her, adding: “He just went in for the hug and I was like, ‘Why not?’.”

Sydnie – who beat stiff competition from Jack Rhodes and Abigail & Afronitaaa for the Britain’s Got Talent crown in 2024 – shared a glimpse into their meeting on Instagram over the weekend, heaping praise on the dad-of-two.

Posting a snap of interaction, she wrote: “An absolute pinch me moment. Harry you are the most loveliest soul @sussexroyal.” Fans couldn’t get enough of the photo, and quickly flooded her comments with praise. One penned: “Good for you!!! Live your best life, you’re fabulous!”

Another said: “You have the most beautiful heart and soul !! Well deserved sister. This is beautiful.” An Instagram user said: “Can’t believe he’s so star struck to see you.”

As a follower quipped: “This is so beautiful Sydnie, glad you had a real nice time hob-knobbing with royalty again. You charmed him, I’m sure!”

Sydnie previously brushed shoulders with the Royal family when she performed at the Royal Variety Show, in front of King Charles.

Speaking to the Mirror, she recently revealed that she had set her sights on her next dream – Eurovision. She told us: “The audience, the spectacle of it and how proud I would be to represent my country. It would be writing a song that I wrote, it’s such a big appeal to me, I’ll keep trying, I’ll try every year.

“I love that every single contestant is different. I watch it every year with loads of my friends, it’s like you’re in a different musical every single country that comes on. It’s wicked, it’s an event in my mind.”
