A fire broke out late on August 11 at Daido Steel’s Chita Plant in Tokai, Aichi Prefecture, burning through an outdoor area containing scrap metal and other materials, with no injuries reported and no flames spreading to nearby buildings.
Police said firefighters notified them of the blaze at around 10:30 p.m. on August 11 at the Daido Steel Chita Plant.
The fire was concentrated in an area where scrap metal and other materials were stored, and authorities said it had not spread to any buildings.
No injuries were reported.
The blaze had still not been fully extinguished as of 5:30 a.m. on August 12, with firefighters continuing efforts to bring it under control.
Police and other authorities are investigating the detailed cause of the fire.
