Chelsea Freeman has revealed the frightening symptoms that prompted her recent emergency trip to the hospital.
The wife of Dodgers star Freddie Freeman said during an Instagram Story Q&A on Tuesday that she awakened in the middle of the night with sharp pain in her chest and back.
Believing she might be suffering a heart attack, Chelsea called 911. The ordeal became even more frightening because Freddie was away with the Dodgers.
“It was really scary, especially since Freddie was out of town on the road,” she wrote.
Once Chelsea arrived at the hospital, doctors discovered that her troponin levels were elevated. That result prompted an extensive series of cardiac tests, including a heart CT, chest X-rays and an echocardiogram.
Chelsea said she met with a cardiologist Wednesday who suspects she may have experienced pericarditis or myocarditis. Neither condition has been confirmed, and she is scheduled to undergo another echocardiogram next week as doctors continue monitoring her heart.
She added that she is “thankfully feeling much better” following the episode.
The new details provide clarity after Chelsea first disclosed her emergency hospital visit last week. She initially shared a photograph from a hospital bed but described the episode only as “a little health scare.”
At the time, the mother of four thanked the EMTs, nurses, doctors and family members who cared for her. She also encouraged followers to seek medical attention whenever something feels wrong.
The Freeman family has endured another serious medical ordeal in recent years. Their son Maximus spent eight days in a pediatric intensive care unit after developing Guillain-Barré syndrome in 2024. The family later celebrated his recovery as a “miracle” after he returned home.
Chelsea now faces another round of testing, but her improving condition offered a reassuring conclusion to an otherwise terrifying account.
