Warangal: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that if the BRS was voted back to power, only the family of its president K. Chandrashekar Rao would benefit. People of the state would continue to gain under a Congress government, he said. “KCR believes in family justice while we believe in social justice,” Revanth Reddy said.
Addressing public meetings at Mulugu and Parkal after participating in development initiatives, the Chief Minister also dared BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao to bring Chandrashekar Rao to the Assembly for the session scheduled in September to debate on the contribution for people’s welfare by the BRS and Congress governments. “The glaring contrast between KCR and I is that he only worked to further the political and financial interests of his family and a particular section of society,” Revanth Reddy alleged. “In contrast, the Congress government and I have been relentlessly working for people’s welfare.”
Revanth Reddy was reacting to the two BRS leaders’ claims of development during the BRS regime and allegations of failure against the Congress government. “Let us debate the matter in the Assembly and leave it to people to decide,” the Chief Minister said.
Elaborating on the contrast of appointments from different sections of society, the Chief Minister said Chandrashekar Rao had inducted Rama Rao and Harish Rao into his Cabinet but the Congress had given ministerial posts to two women — Danasari ‘Seethakka’ Anasuya and Konda Surekha. “KCR made E. Dayakar Rao a minister, and the Congress made Adluri Lakshman a minister. Kavitha was made MP, and MLC after losing the election, but the Congress ensured that Kadiyam Kavya was elected MP and Yashaswini Reddy a legislator.”
“The father gifted the party working president post to the son during the BRS regime and the Congress made Mahesh Kumar Goud the PCC president. KCR gave a Rajya Sabha ticket to his nephew while I, following the dharma of friendship, made Vem Narender Reddy an MP,” Revanth Reddy noted. “A close relative, Vinod, was appointed Planning Commission deputy chairperson after he lost the Lok Sabha polls, but the Congress honoured Prof. Kodandaram with an MLC seat for his contribution to the Telangana movement.”
On welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said the Congress government had waived farm loans of Rs 21,000 crore, extended Rs 36,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa, farm assistance, and spent Rs 30,000 crore towards free power to the farm sector. Besides, farmers were given bonus for growing fine variety of paddy, he said. He also promised that the Congress government would make every effort to provide employment and livelihood opportunities to the youth.
Skills, industries and jobs, Revanth Reddy said, would remain priorities as Telangana’s future depended on its younger generation. “Don’t fall into the trap of the BRS leaders who failed to make a single appointment to government jobs for a decade and are now instigating the youth. You just focus on competitive exams because the government is coming up with more recruitment,” he said, addressing the youths.
