Hyderabad: Telangana sailor Shringhari Roy of the Secunderabad Sailing Club won gold at the 3rd Raja Bhoj Multiclass Sailing Championship, topping the Optimist Main Open Category (Boys & Girls) at the National Sailing School in Bhopal on Sunday.

A student of St Ann’s Girls High School in Mehdipatnam, Shringhari sailed with remarkable consistency across the series to finish first overall — placing herself at the top of the combined boys’ and girls’ standings, not merely her own division.

The win adds to an impressive record for the Team India sailor, who is the reigning national girls’ champion in the Optimist class and recently represented India at the IODA Optimist World Championship 2026 in Tangier, Morocco. She trains under Arjun Pradipak, Commodore and Coach at the Secunderabad Sailing Club.

“This has been a dream we’ve chased together, and today it came true. Shringhari earned every bit of it, and this is only the beginning,” Arjun said.

Shringhari was understandably overjoyed, calling it a breakthrough and one of the happiest moments of her journey so far.

Significantly, the victory cements her place as a Team India member for the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) Asian & Oceanian Championship to be held in Sri Lanka this December.
