Traitors star Maddy Smedley, who has appeared on EastEnders and Hollyoaks since her time on the BBC game show, has announced that she is pregnant with her second child

Maddy Smedley is pregnant with her second child. The actress, 33, who found fame when she competed on the first series of The Traitors, is already mum to two-year-old Shelby with Tom Greenwood, and she took to social media on Sunday to reveal that they are expecting again.

Alongside a snap of herself, her partner and daughter, she held up the scan photo, Maddy wrote on Instagram: “Coming soon. Baby no. 2, we are so blessed and we can’t wait to meet you already.

“Hi, they are waving like Shelby did in her scan or maybe doing a dramatic pose. xx over the moon xx.” The TV star was instantly congratulated by several fellow famous faces, with Stephen Libby, who won Traitors earlier this year alongside Rachel Duffy, said: “Congratulations Maddy.”

Scarlett Moffatt, who is currently pregnant with her second child as well, said: “Huge congratulations,” and emblazoned her comment with a red heart emoji.

Ned Porteous, who currently stars as Joe Tate on Emmerdale, said: “Ahhh! Yes, mads congratz,” and Loose Women star GK Barry wrote: “Congrats, gorgeous queen.” Other former Traitors stars, such as Harriet Tyce and Roxy Wilson, were also quick to send congratulatory messages.

Since her time on Claudia Winkleman’s hit BBC game show, Maddy has bolstered her career as an actress with appearances in EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Casualty and Call The Midwife. In 2025, she joined the cast of ITV2 sitcom Piglets and appeared alongside Sarah Parish and Mark Heap.

When she was filming her role as Faye Fuller on Hollyoaks, Maddy was pregnant with her first child and recently explained to The Mirror that she felt “really lonely” during the shooting process.

She said: “I really did enjoy my time in Hollyoaks. I think because I was pregnant, it was a difficult time in terms of like…when you’re staying in hotels and stuff . Even though I had Shelby with me I felt really lonely but that was just because you’re going through a lot but I really did enjoy it and I’d never say no to doing all [the soaps].”

Earlier this year, Maddy was on stage in a new production of Educating Rita, and explained that parenthood is still a really tricky thing to navigate as a working actress and she has to be really careful about what kind of opportunities she takes on in order to make sure that she be there for her daughter. At the time, she joked that the little one was not too taken with hearing the Liverpudlian accent she had to learn to take on the part made famous by Dame Julie Walters.

She added: “It’s really hard. It’s a hard juggle because it’s like two jobs and my main one is obviously my daughter but then I could only say yes to this sort of theatre job because, say, if it was a year-running one, I’d hardly ever see her. I would hate that. I’ve been practising the accent for her when I read some of her stories!

“And she always goes, ‘Mummy, do it properly’. So she doesn’t like me doing the Liverpudlian. So I’m reading like The Gruffalo and all stuff like that in this Liverpudlian accent of mine, as Rita . She wasn’t too impressed with that. But I can’t wait, I’ve got a few more weeks of this show. Like, I am enjoying it. but I am excited to go back to normal and see her.”
