Lola Young has shared a defiant message to trolls who keep discussing her weight – and said it’s best not to comment on something you know nothing about.
The 25-year-old singer, from Croydon, known for hits like ‘Messy’ and ‘One Thing,’ opened up about her body image when she was “a child”. She said she was smaller, a UK size 6 when she was around 16-18 years old, but it was a time she was “most unhappy” in her body. She claimed to have the “worst relationship with food” at that point too, and has been on a healing journey since.
Lola said: “And I’m happy being thick now, or fat, whatever the f*** you want to call it, I couldn’t really care less.
“But, the truth is, now, I like it when other women and people come up to me and say that I make them feel confident in their body, because I used to hate that.
“Now I take pride. I take pride in my belly, I take pride in my a***, and showing it off. And I have bigger things to be worrying about than my weight. So yeah, please don’t comment on other people’s, and particularly women’s, bodies.
“And if you do, know that you’re the one who’s unhappy. Yeah, I don’t love my body all the time, but I try to, because I’m gonna live and die in it.”
Lola is known for wearing crop tops and tights outfits, which some may shy away from. But she rocks everything she puts on, inspiring women and girls to be who they want to be, and forget how anyone else may perceive you, as everyone will have an opinion regardless!
