Some believe that seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady’s legendary NFL career deserves an asterisk because of his role in the Patriots’ Deflategate scandal.
Now Brady has admitted that cheating back in high school helped him succeed as an analyst.
Brady did an “#AskTom” segment with Fox Sports that aired on Thursday, when he was asked questions by fans.
One fan mentioned how Brady said, “[Jalen Hurts] drops a ball in there like a butterfly with sore legs” while on the call of the Eagles’ game against the Commanders last weekend. The fan said Brady’s “butterfly with sore legs” simile made his English teacher proud, then asked about Brady’s literary upbringing.
“I’d like to tip my cap to Mr. Ralph Stark, my sophomore English teacher at Junípero Serra High School. Thank you for all the C+ grades you gave me that helped me continue my athletic career,” Brady said.
“I wasn’t the best student, you know that. I was always pretty good at your quizzes. I had a lot of friends that took the test in period two. I had the test in period four, and they helped me with some of the answers,” he continued.
Brady is clearly saying this tongue in cheek. And he’s far from the only person who used his friends’ help to get some assistance on high school English quizzes.
At least Brady is willing to admit it.
