Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police geared up to deal with the weekend rush at the towering Khairatabad Ganesh idol on Saturday and Sunday.
Devotees are expected to flock in large numbers to visit the Ganesh idol on Saturday and Sunday. Since it is the weekend, the rush of devotees has been continuing in surrounding areas of Khairatabad since morning.
It is estimated that more than one and a half lakh devotees are likely to visit Ganesha on Saturday. This year, the 69-foot-tall Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati is being worshipped at Khairatabad.
Along with Ganesh idol, the idols of Kalika Mata, Somnath Jyotirlingam, Vishwakarma, and Vishnu Murthy became a major attraction. The government has made elaborate arrangements for the devotees. Queues have been set up on all sides and heavy police deployment has been made to prevent any untoward incidents.
Continuous monitoring is being carried out through CCTV cameras. As it is the weekend, a large number of devotees are expected to visit the temple, and the crowd is likely to increase as the day progresses. Accordingly, the authorities are making additional arrangements.
