Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday invited suggestions from the public for a name for the long-pending Mamnoor airport in Warangal. Revanth Reddy said the project had moved closer to reality after the completion of land acquisition and its handover to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
In a post on X, Revanth Reddy said the Telangana government allocated ₹295 crore for land acquisition for the airport. He described the handing over of the land to the AAI as a major step towards fulfilling the long-pending demand for an airport in Warangal.
The Chief Minister said the proposed airport would serve as a gateway for industry, tourism, education, employment and investment in the Warangal region. He said improved air connectivity would contribute to the region’s economic development and help create new growth opportunities beyond Hyderabad.
Revanth Reddy said the airport project was now taking shape on the ground and expressed hope of flying from Mamnoor airport in the future. He also asked people to suggest a suitable name for the airport as part of its new identity.
The Chief Minister, while highlighting the progress made by the Congress government, also criticised the previous BRS government over the delay in realising the airport project. He said the project remained pending despite the BRS being in power for a decade.
