Coventry City boss Frank Lampard said his players have “shown they can do it” after picking up their first Premier League victory of the season.
Jay Dasilva scored the only goal of the game in a narrow 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest as the Sky Blues recorded their first top-flight win – and goal – in 25 years.
Igor Jesus saw what he thought was a late equaliser ruled out for a foul in the build-up as Coventry held on for a famous win at the City Ground.
Speaking after the game, Lampard could not hide his delight with the result.
The Coventry manager told Sky Sports: “I feel great, I feel amazing. The way the players worked for it. [It is a] tough place to come we knew that having lost our first four games all in different circumstances it’s easy to think negatively and think where is the goal and where it the win coming from?
“The reality in football is you have to fight for it, you have to work for it, you have to have organisation.
“I can go through so many players today and how they worked. You make your own luck in terms of VAR, I think it was a foul but when you work that hard I think the boys deserve it. It’s huge mentally for the team.”

‘Not everyone is Wayne Rooney’
Lampard said many of his players are experiencing Premier League football for the first time, and he hopes the win can help improve morale after a difficult start.
“Not everyone is a Wayne Rooney or a superstar that can just own it,” Lampard said.
“This can now hopefully give us confidence. The boys today have shown they can do it.”
Next up for Coventry after the lengthy international break is the visit of Newcastle, followed by a trip to Tottenham.
