Hyderabad:A 28-year-old man who was upset over a family dispute allegedly attempted to die by suicide at the Gandhi Bhavan Metro Rail station on Saturday. police who reached the spot upon receiving information said the man survived with a broken leg. He was shifted to the Osmania Hospital. He was stated to be a doctor from Tolichowki.
Nampally police said the man was deeply upset as his wife, from he had separated, was reportedly not allowing him to meet his five-year-old son. The man had left home on Thursday and not returned, after which his mother filed a missing person complaint on Friday. Police registered a case and began a search for him, when news of the attempt to suicide came. Police recorded his statement and were investigating.
Investigators Yet To Ascertain Ex-havildar’s Role In Ammunition Theft
Hyderabad:Investigators probing the theft of weapons and ammunition from the armoury of the Madras Regiment at Bolaram are yet to establish whether or not ex Havildar U. Mallesh had the assistance of others in executing the offence.
Police teams suspected that Mallesh may have received help from insiders, including the kote in-charge and ammunition in-charge, besides another person. Investigators questioned the three and others extensively to establish whether anyone assisted Mallesh in accessing the armoury, disabling security arrangements, removing the weapons and ammunition or subsequently concealing them.
The questioning has so far failed to yield evidence establishing that Mallesh had the assistance of any of the suspected persons. With no concrete evidence emerging, investigators are yet to zero in on any individual who may have helped the accused in the theft.
The police are likely to take Mallesh into custody on Monday after securing permission from the court. Investigators are likely to question him further about the theft and the possibility of assistance from others. They are also expected to confront him with the findings gathered during the investigation so far.
Police officials have not disclosed details of the questioning or confirmed whether any accomplice has been identified. The investigation is continuing to establish the complete sequence of the theft and determine whether Mallesh acted alone or with assistance.
Delivery Executive Dies by Suicide
Hyderabad:A 21-year-old delivery executive, Kurakula Rajesh, died by suicide at his residence, reportedly after returning home in an inebriated condition, in Ganeshnagar under Vanasthalipuram police limits on Saturday night. According to the complaint lodged by Rajesh’s mother Jaya, her son returned home at around 10 pm after consuming alcohol. She served him dinner, following which Rajesh sat outside the house and spoke with a neighbour.
After around 30 minutes, Rajesh went inside the house. When his mother later went to check on him, she found him unconscious. With the help of neighbours, the family shifted him to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead. Based on Jaya’s complaint, Vanasthalipuram police registered a case and began an investigation. Police are looking into the circumstances preceding the death and other details as part of the inquiry.
