Bengaluru: Karnataka is preparing to scale up the second Quantum India Bengaluru Summit in 2027 into a major global platform for quantum research, innovation, industry collaboration and investment, Minister for Science & Technology Ajay Dharam Singh said on Sunday.
He said the state has set a target of USD 20-billion quantum economy by 2035.
The minister said the next summit would seek greater participation from global researchers, technology companies, startups, investors and policymakers.
“The 2027 summit should go beyond being just a conference. It should emerge as a global quantum platform that brings together research, industry, startups, investment and international collaboration,” he said speaking at the 10th anniversary celebration of QNu Labs, a deep-technology cybersecurity company here.
Noting that the initiative is envisaged as an integrated ecosystem bringing together quantum research, hardware, startups, talent, industry and commercialisation, Singh said, “QNu Labs has demonstrated the ability to take indigenous quantum technology from research to real-world applications. Companies like these should become key partners in building Karnataka’s Quantum City.”
Karnataka has set a target of building a USD 20-billion quantum economy by 2035 and is expanding its quantum ecosystem through the Rs1,000-crore Karnataka Quantum Mission, with a focus on infrastructure, talent, startups, research and global partnerships, he said, according to a release from his office.
“Patents, products, new companies, skilled talent, investment and global market opportunities must be the real outcomes of our quantum efforts. Karnataka should emerge as a place where quantum ideas are born, technologies are built and companies scale globally,” the Minister added.
Congratulating QNu Labs on completing 10 years, Singh said the Karnataka government would continue to support home-grown DeepTech companies with the potential to take Indian technologies to global markets.
