According to reports, the comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, attempted suicide on September 18, 2026, in the Vegas area and was rushed to the hospital. Carrot Top is the son of NASA engineer Larry Thompson. In an interview with Allison Kugel, CT shared that he considered himself to be the black sheep of his family. While his brother went to the Air Force Academy and became an F16 fighter jet pilot, and his dad worked at NASA and built spaceships and trained astronauts, he wanted to be a comedian.
In the same interview, CT admitted that the moment he confessed to his parents that he wanted to be a comedian, it was quite awkward, as they expected him to choose a more conventional career like engineering. In fact, his dad, Larry, did not even know what a stand-up comedian is.
Further, in the interview, Carrot shared that while people know him for his comic stance, in his personal life, he is very shy and introverted. He admitted that he is very private. He also spoke about his thoughts on retirement. The comedian explained that as he has grown older, he has become more confident and comfortable in his career.
