Carrot Top Once Confessed He Does Not Want Marriage And Kids, 'Can't Imagine Taking Care...'

Comedian Carrot Top attempted suicide on September 18, 2026, and is currently recovering in a hospital in Las Vegas. According to reports, Carrot, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was rushed to a hospital in the Las Vegas area on September 18, 2026, following the mental health crisis.

CT’s representative told PEOPLE that the 61-year-old comedian is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the support and care he needs at the moment. The rep also shared that the comedian’s family and his near and dear ones are deeply grateful for the concern and prayers. Amid this crisis, Carrot’s former statement on marriage surfaced online.

Carrot Top revealed that he does not want to get married

Carrot Top sat for a candid interview with Allison Kugel back in 2022. During the conversation, the interviewer asked the stand-up comedian about his marriage plans. In response, CT shared that he does not think he would marry someday. Explaining the reason, Carrot mentioned that it was hard for him to take care of himself. Thus, he does not want to get married. In fact, he also does not want to have kids. He said:

“It’s hard enough just taking care of myself. I can’t imagine taking care of a wife and kids. I’m enough.”

While Carrot has no plans for marriage, he has been dating Amanda Hogan, a business owner in Las Vegas, since 2014. They have kept their relationship largely private. Back in 2014, on Amanda’s birthday, Carrot shared a love-filled note wishing her happy birthday. He also addressed her as his girlfriend and best friend. In the same year, Carrot took to his Facebook account to share a picture from a golf play session between him and Amanda. He stated that she had beaten him in the game.

Carrot Top’s illustrious career in comedy

Carrot Top was born as Scott Thompson on February 25, 1965, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He graduated from Cocoa High School and went on to attend Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. When CT was a first-year college student, his roommate encouraged him to perform at a college open-mic comedy night. However, his first performance did not go well because he used old jokes that were no longer funny.

In a 2022 interview with Allison Kugel, CT shared that the criticism around his comedy used to hurt his feelings for most of his career. However, things changed with time. He explained that it is normal to want everyone to like you, but that is impossible. Some people will simply not like his comedy, and he has accepted that with time.

Carrot added that people have made fun of him since the beginning of his career, partly because of his red hair, freckles, unusual stage name, and use of props in his comedy. It is worth mentioning that while Carrot’s first performance did not go well, he did not lose hope. He went back on stage the following semester with jokes he had written himself, mostly about college life. It was a hit that time.

After completing his marketing degree, CT got a job as a bank courier while continuing to perform comedy in his free time. In 1990, he left his regular job and decided to become a full-time comedian. Eventually, CT became a star for using unusual props in his comedy.

Carrot also used his red hair as part of his act. His career reached new heights after he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1992. Besides comedy, Carrot also tried his luck in acting. In the 1998 comedy Chairman of the Board, the Las Vegas comedian played a surfer who unexpectedly becomes the head of a large company.

Get well soon, Carrot Top.
