Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had brought the Old City into Hyderabad’s development mainstream by giving priority to major infrastructure, healthcare, housing and connectivity projects that had remained neglected for years, Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency in-charge Mohammed Waliullah Sameer said on Sunday.
Marking 1,000 days of the Congress government, Sameer, former Hyderabad DCC chief, said Revanth Reddy had changed the development narrative for the Old City by treating it as an integral part of Hyderabad’s future growth rather than an isolated pocket requiring occasional interventions.
He said the Chanchalguda-Santoshnagar flyover, acceleration of the Old City Metro, construction of the new 2,000-bed Osmania General Hospital, urban Indiramma housing, the proposed Mir Alam Tank bridge and development, and the Musi rejuvenation programme reflected the scale of the government’s focus on the historic core of Hyderabad. “For decades, the Old City remained disconnected from Hyderabad’s larger development story. Revanth Reddy has changed that approach. His vision is to ensure that the original city becomes an equal partner in Hyderabad’s future growth,” Sameer said.
