After a Week 1 upset against the Arizona Cardinals, McConkey is in questionable condition to play during the team’s Week 2 match against the Las Vegas Raiders. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, McConkey is suffering from a rib injury.

According to reports, Ladd McConkey’s wife, Sydney McConkey, is a Pilates instructor and educator. She completed college and earned her degree last year, in April 2025. She expressed her joy at earning her degree by taking to Instagram. In the post, she revealed that she had changed her degree a couple of times before finally landing on the one that she loves. She wrote:
“A couple of degree changes later and a break from school to move across the country, I have found something my heart truly loves & have finally finished my degree + some endorsements!”
Sydney admitted that even though being an educator can be challenging at times, at the end of the day, it is the most rewarding and humbling experience. It is worth mentioning that Sydney got her degree shortly after she tied the knot with the NFL star.
Sydney and Ladd McConkey met when they were kids. The duo grew up in the same hometown of Chatsworth, Ga. When they were in 6th and 5th grades, respectively, Sydney and McConkey even dated for a short while before breaking up. In a video shared by the Chargers in January 2026, McConkey jokingly said that it was Sydney who decided to break up with him at that time. He added:
“She broke up with me, so obviously she didn’t think I was the one then. But then high school came back around; I would say pretty early on, I knew, like, okay, you’re the one.”
As their relationship progressed, Ladd McConkey decided to propose to Sydney in front of a backdrop with the words, “Will you marry me?” inscribed on it. After Sydney said yes, the athlete shared a photo dump with the caption, “My person for life. Here’s to the beginning of forever with my best friend! I love you so much. 7.6.24.”
Meanwhile, Sydney also shared a series of photos from the proposal on her Instagram profile. Calling it the best day of her life, she wrote in the caption, “07.06.24- the best day of my life. Yesterday was all I could ask for and more! Here’s to forever. I love you! @ladd.mcconkey.”
After their engagement, Ladd McConkey and Sydney got married on April 12, 2025. The ceremony reportedly took place at Cottonwood Farm in Chatsworth, Ga. Sharing the happy news on Instagram, the couple wrote, “Officially ‘us’. The best day ever getting to marry my best friend!”

While Ladd McConkey is dealing with his rib injury, he recently found out something that can make him feel better. In a joint Instagram post shared on August 3, 2026, McConkey and Sydney revealed that they are expecting their first child. They added that “Baby McConkey” is due in 2027. In one photo, the pair had the biggest smiles on their faces as they held an ultrasound image toward the camera.
Most recently, Ladd McConkey and his wife shared the baby’s gender. The photo showed them holding the sonogram and a baby blue shirt, which means that they are having a boy.
