Nalgonda: Dr K. Jagadeesh Babu had reportedly performed a surgery till early in the morning on Sunday, before heading home to Hyderabad on Sunday.
Police suspected driver drowsiness as among the reasons for the incident but had started an inquiry to find out exactly why the car wnded up in a fireball.
A handle identifying itself as Dr Sidda Srinivas stated on the social media a: “Dr Jagadeesh attended surgery at midnight and performed until 5 am on Sunday, and started to Hyderabad at 6 am. He didn’t even sleep for minutes at night (sic).”
Dr Babu had earned recognition in Khammam as an expert in performing critical neurosurgery cases.
He had performed nearly 1,000 neurosurgeries in Khammam, earning special recognition for his skill.
Medical students at Mamatha Medical College admired his teaching methods, which made complex subjects easier to understand.
Doctors at Mamatha Hospital said Dr Jagadeesh Babu was one of the busiest neurosurgeons in Khammam, also working as a consultant for several hospitals.
They noted he was good at driving, but his demanding schedule often left him with little rest.
With an excellent academic record, he completed MBBS from Guntur Medical College in 1993 and M.S. (General Surgery) from the same institution in 2003.
He later obtained M.Ch. (Neurosurgery) from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam.
He joined Mamatha Medical College, Khammam, as an assistant professor in 2010 and rose to head of the neurosurgery department. His articles on neurological disorders were published in several international journals.
Dr Babu was the youngest son of Kaskurthi Balaji and Saroja, natives of Sankuvarigunta in Kothapatnam gram panchayat, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh.
His father had worked as a labourer in Indian Railways. Hailing from a poor family, he faced financial difficulties in pursuing medical education but continued with the support of teachers and well‑wishers.
