Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had to be carted off the field Sunday after suffering what appeared to be a non-contact hamstring injury to his right leg.
Williams, the No.1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, writhed in pain after falling awkwardly on a scramble in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Vikings at Soldier Field.
With the Bears trailing 6-3 with 7:30 remaining, the third-year QB rolled to his left on a first-and-goal play from the Minnesota 6-yard line and appeared to be headed for the end zone when he fell to the wet turf without being touched by a Vikings defender.
Williams had a towel over his head but raised his fist to the home crowd as he was carted off the field.
Williams, who led the Bears to a 59-37 win over Carolina in Week 1, had been 15-for-28 for 138 yards and one interception with 42 rushing yards at the time of the injury.
Backup quarterback Tyler Bagent replaced Williams, but the Vikings blocked a potential game-tying field goal on fourth down and then added an insurance field goal with 1:12 remaining.
