Despite appearing in practice footage over the past couple of months, incoming Croatian forward Boris Tisma is no longer set to play for the Washington Huskies in the 2026-27 season.
Tisma, one of several reported international signings for UW coach Danny Sprinkle this offseason, has now signed a two-year contract with Movistar Estudiantes, a professional team based in Madrid, Spain. He previously played for Real Madrid in 2020-21 and was then loaned out to another Liga ACB team in 2021.

Prior to the 6-foot-9 power forward’s move to America, he played for two teams in Croatia—Split (2022-25) and Zadar (2025-26)—and one SC Derby in Montenegro, proving to be a rising international prospect that attracted the attention of several schools, including UW.
The departure of Tisma isn’t surprising in the wake of the NCAA changing eligibility requirements for international players coming to the United States back in May. Any player who has signed a professional contract prior to coming to the States now loses their eligibility, though it’s unclear if that’s the specific reason why UW and Tisma parted.
In the past two months, the Huskies have added a pair of transfers, former Rutgers guard Harun Zrno and ex-Nevada guard Tayshawn Comer, but still have a void to fill in the post with the loss of Tisma. UW has not released its 2026-27 roster on the school’s website with less than one month until Sprinkle’s team hits the road to face Boise State in a preseason exhibition on October 17 at Idaho Central Arena.

As of now, UW has five bigs going into year three under Sprinkle: second-year forwards Jasir Rencher and Nikola Dzepina, third-year center Lathan Somerville, fourth-year forward Mady Traore, and incoming fourth-year transfer LeJuan Watts.
